Piano solo – On the Walls of the Wonderful White Wash Waltz
Piano solo - On the Walls of the Wonderful White Wash Waltz
On the Walls of the Wonderful White Wash Waltz was written as a rejoinder to On the Banks of the Beautiful Blue Danube (An der Schönen Blauen Donau) by Johann Strauss Jr. The city of Los Angeles is known for many things, one of them is not the river that flows through it, although there have been recent attempts to revitalize and breathe new life into that often-maligned concrete encased channel. On Wednesday, August 2, 1769, Father Juan Crespi, a Franciscan priest accompanying the first European land expedition through California, led by Captain Fernando Rivera Y Moncado, described in his journal a "beautiful river from the northwest" located at "34 degrees 10 minutes." They named the river El Rio de la Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de la Porciúncula. The waltz by Domine fills a gaping hole in the cultural wasteland of southern California.
